President Donald Trump on Thursday released a health care framework that would codify his efforts to reduce prescription drug prices, send dollars to Health Savings Accounts instead of insurers via Affordable Care Act subsidies, and force more price transparency from insurance companies, hospitals and physicians.

The Trump administration sent hundreds of letters Tuesday terminating federal grants supporting mental health and drug addiction services. The cuts could total as much as $2 billion.

The U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, SAMHSA, lost around $1.9 billion in federal grants, which were abruptly terminated on Tuesday, a source said.

Following swift bipartisan backlash to news that the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration on Tuesday night canceled some 2,000 grants, the federal government said late Wednesday it would restore the funding.
